Approvals

Learn how to review, authorize, or reject governance actions in the Nuxari approval queue.

Last updated: June 2026

Who this is for

Approvers and admins who are assigned to review and authorize access requests, remediation plans, onboarding workflows, offboarding workflows, and scheduled actions.

Before you start

You need the Approver role or higher to act on approval requests. Review notifications are sent automatically when you are assigned. SeeWorkspaces and Roles for the full permissions reference.

What the approval queue is

The approval queue is the central place where all pending governance actions wait for human authorization. No high-impact action in Nuxari executes without a completed approval record. The queue collects requests from access workflows, remediation plans, onboarding and offboarding processes, and Chat-to-Action scheduled jobs, all in one view.

How to view pending approvals

  1. 1In Nuxari, go to Governance > Approvals.
  2. 2The queue shows all pending items assigned to you, ordered by submission time.
  3. 3Use filters to view by type (access request, remediation, offboarding, scheduled job), priority, or submitter.
  4. 4Each row shows the action type, the requesting user, the target system, and how long it has been waiting.

How to review and act on an approval

  1. 1Click the pending item to open the full detail view.
  2. 2Review the requested action, the submitter, the target system or identity, the business justification, and the proposed access level or change.
  3. 3If the request is part of a finding, the finding detail and evidence snapshot are shown alongside.
  4. 4Select Approve to authorize the action. The workflow engine proceeds immediately.
  5. 5Select Reject to decline. You can provide a reason, which is delivered to the requester and recorded in the audit log.
Once you approve an action, the workflow engine begins execution immediately. Review the full detail before approving, particularly for remediation plans that revoke access or modify roles in connected systems.

Approval chains

Your organization can configure single-level, multi-level, or delegated approval chains depending on the sensitivity of the action. For multi-level approvals, each level must be completed in sequence. If an approver is unavailable, an escalation path can be configured by your admin to route to a secondary approver after a defined waiting period.

What happens after approval

  • ·The workflow engine executes the authorized action in the connected system.
  • ·An approval record is created capturing the authorizing user, timestamp, and decision.
  • ·The approval record is included in the evidence package for the action.
  • ·The submitter receives a notification that their request was approved and executed.
  • ·The audit log records the full approval and execution chain.
You can also approve or reject requests directly from your notification email without navigating to the Nuxari dashboard, if your organization has configured email-based approval actions.
